History:

  • In 1902 Senator Henry Gassaway Davis through an act of philanthropy, donated the money to establish Davis Memorial Hospital.
  • The Davis Health System Foundation has now been formed as a public charity with the mission of supporting the goals of Davis Health System.

Scope:

  • The mission of the Foundation is: “Providing opportunity for community support of Davis Health System.”
  • Davis Health System includes Davis Memorial Hospital, Broaddus Hospital & Mansfield Place, Buckhannon Medical Care and Tucker Community Care.
  • Within the larger entities listed above are many other programs and services for example, Cancer Care Center, Women’s HealthCare, etc. Contributions may be given through the Foundation to benefit many of these programs and services.

Opportunities:

  • Donors may choose to channel giving in areas of their own particular interests. That can easily be accommodated through specific funds established with emphasis on education, technology, new construction/renovation, etc.
  • Donors may also select from a variety of gifting opportunities, which include cash donations, pledges, stocks, property, wills and bequests. Many different types of donations accepted. A process is in place to evaluate acceptance of donations that may not fit within the pre-approved categories.

Benefits:

  • Donors make a difference in their own community and create a legacy.
  • Quality health care services are strengthened and remain available to the entire region.
  • The tradition of philanthropy is fostered and perpetuated.
