History:
- In 1902 Senator Henry Gassaway Davis through an act of philanthropy, donated the money to establish Davis Memorial Hospital.
- The
Davis Health System Foundation has now been formed as a public charity
with the mission of supporting the goals of Davis Health System.
Scope:
- The mission of the Foundation is: “Providing opportunity for community support of Davis Health System.”
- Davis
Health System includes Davis Memorial Hospital, Broaddus Hospital &
Mansfield Place, Buckhannon Medical Care and Tucker Community Care.
- Within
the larger entities listed above are many other programs and services
for example, Cancer Care Center, Women’s HealthCare, etc. Contributions
may be given through the Foundation to benefit many of these programs
and services.
Opportunities:
- Donors
may choose to channel giving in areas of their own particular
interests. That can easily be accommodated through specific funds
established with emphasis on education, technology, new
construction/renovation, etc.
- Donors
may also select from a variety of gifting opportunities, which include
cash donations, pledges, stocks, property, wills and bequests. Many
different types of donations accepted. A process is in place to
evaluate acceptance of donations that may not fit within the
pre-approved categories.

- Donors make a difference in their own community and create a legacy.
- Quality health care services are strengthened and remain available to the entire region.
- The tradition of philanthropy is fostered and perpetuated.
