Read Aloud

Reach Out and Read is a provider-based early childhood brain development program that champions the positive effects of reading daily and engaging in other language-rich activities with young children. Reading together promotes healthy brain development, furthers language acquisition, and helps families build meaningful bonds.  At each routine check-up for children age five and under, DMC pediatricians equip parents with the knowledge and tools they need and present each child with a complimentary, age-appropriate book of their choice.

Education begins at birth.  Education occurs at home, in the community, and in schools.

Davis Health System Foundation proudly supports the 5 Rs of early education with young families:

  1. Reading together as a daily, fun, family activity

  2. Rhyming, playing, talking, and singing together

  3. Building Routines for meals, play, and sleep

  4. Giving Rewards for everyday progress and successes

  5. Developing Relationships that are nurturing and lasting and are the foundations of healthy early brain and child development

The Davis House

The Davis House offers cancer patients and a family member a “home-away-from-home” when it is necessary to travel for their treatment. Here, they focus on their care and healing without the worry of frequent travel or the cost of local lodging. We believe that keeping families close makes the hardship of cancer treatment just a little easier.

Completed in 2012, the Davis House offers six private guest suites. In addition to no-cost lodging, the house provides free on-site laundry facilities, convenient parking, and handicap access. One and two-bed-suites are available and each includes:

• Private bath and kitchenette
• Comfortable sitting area
• Individual temperature control
• Television
• Internet access

The Davis House is located on the campus of Davis Medical Center, convenient to the Cancer Care Center and the comprehensive medical, diagnostic, and outpatient services of Davis Medical Center. Downtown Elkins is also just
minutes away and provides opportunities for shopping, dining and recreation.

Cancer Patient Assistance Fund

The Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund helps patients manage the financial challenges of cancer.  Donor support aids in the cost of travel, lodging, prosthetics, wigs, personal items, medications, and other personal expenses.

The Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund also helps fund Free Mammograms for those in need. To apply for financial assistance for a Free Mammogram please download and complete the form by clicking here

At Davis Health System, we don’t believe anyone should avoid or delay important medical care because of cost.  Davis Medical Center’s PACE Program (Providing Affordable Care for Everyone) and the DHS Foundation can help. The Guardian Angel Patient Assistance Fund and the Noronha Fund provide financial support to DMC patients for medically necessary prescriptions, supplies, and services that contribute directly to their overall health, wellness, and quality of life – including surgical procedures, Orthopedic Nutritional Counseling, and Chronic Care Management.

#Protect the Heros

Our community responded with unprecedented generosity and support for the Foundation’s COVID-19 Relief Fund. Gifts to our #ProtectTheHeroes project purchased PPE for hospital employees and volunteers and equipment for Davis Medical Center’s operating room, emergency department, general inpatient unit, and Laurel Place Geri-psych unit. Individuals and community organizations have also brought small gifts, treats, and meals for hospital staff to show their support of our healthcare providers throughout the pandemic.
